









Description
RESPONSIBILITIES: Activities related to teaching and learning including but not limited to:
- Instruct courses in online classroom
- Program oversite:
- Initiate clinical rotations and manage related documentation
- Manage all aspects of students in clinical rotations
- Curriculum development
- Assessment of student performance in all courses
- Student advising and resource referral
- Program/college promotion and recruiting
- Initiate and participate in ongoing accreditation process
- Maintain accreditation standards compliance, including reports, self-studies, and site visits.
- Maintenance of professional skills and credentials
- Oversee advisory committee activities for program.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Review curriculum and textbooks/teaching materials with instructors, advisory board, medical director and administration.
- Interview prospective students during enrollment process.
- Review completion and placement rates with medical director and school director.
- Create program materials
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Education
- Associate degree from an ICA - accredited Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
Certification
- Must be Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certified as a Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician (COMT) or Licensed Optometrist or Certified Orthoptist
Experience
- Three (3) years job experience as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician - COT or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist – COMT, and / or three (3) years teaching experience in the subject field
- Must hold current license, certification or other designation as required by local, state or federal laws to work in the field
- Verbal and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with patients, medical, and other personnel in clinic and associated services
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related computer skills
- Experience working as a COT or higher credential in industry
- Experience in teaching/training including online environment
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in in related field
