The vice president for fiscal affairs is responsible for the direction and oversight of all University financial activities.

Job Responsibilities and Execution
Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and governmental agency reports
Ensures the University’s operations are at all times consistent with meeting and maintaining its 501(c)(3) nonprofit tax status
Establishes and maintains a strong internal control environment to properly analyze, evaluate and report the financial functioning and results of the University and to safeguard its assets
Studies long-range higher education economic trends and projects their impact on future growth, market share, and identifies opportunities
Develops accounting and statistical data to guide senior management and trustees in making fully informed business decisions
Serves as the primary employee for managing outside financial firms that are responsible for the University’s annual audit and endowment
Serves as financial liaison to the board’s Finance Committee and presents to the Board of Trustees on financial matters
Works with division leaders to develop and monitor respective budgets and forecasts
Directs the development of a comprehensive communication plan leading to greater transparency to the budget model and informs campus partners of its structure and benefits
Conducts thorough and timely performance evaluations based on evidence, observation and feedback
Translates and presents complex financial information and business concepts to a variety of stakeholders including senior leaders and the Board of Trustees
Provides strategic leadership planning for University growth, resolving financial issues and evaluating financial performance against objectives
Designs and directs implementation of best practices for Fiscal Affairs’ business processes and financial analyses
Creates future growth forecasts
Aligns division/department purpose and actions with the University initiatives and higher education trends
Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
Adheres at all times to the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct in the performance of job duties and working with colleagues

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
Master’s degree in business administration, accounting or finance
Minimum of ten years’ experience in financial management
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (preferred)
Higher education experience in budgeting, financial aid, and long-term financial forecasting
