The Manager of Student Benefits & Insurance provides strategic and tactical leadership for all student benefit operations which include student health insurance, medical evacuation insurance, travel insurance and certificates of insurance. This position works closely with students as well as a multitude of offices within St. George’s University (SGU) and University Support Services (USS). This position reports to the Vice President, Student Operations.
Manage open enrollment period each year, daily processing, mid-year enrollment, & cancellations of Student Health Insurance
Develop and maintain Health Insurance enrollment/waiver system and automation including annual set up
Evaluate and verify enrollment eligibility on a semester basis for all enrollees
Manage and maintain all records for all SGU students enrolled in health insurance.
Lead yearly policy review and renewal recommendations
Coordinate the student health insurance invoice process and reconciliation quarterly
Develop materials and deliver orientation sessions and one-on-one advisement/consultations daily about the student health insurance program and other insurance options and selected health resources to all active and potential enrollees
Serve as liaison to the offices within the Office of the Vice President for Student Operations as well as other offices on student health insurance and student activity issues
Conduct assessment of program effectiveness through data and statistical summaries
Serve as the liaison between the SGU student health insurance broker, Insurance providers & SGU
Maintain communication with student renters’ insurance broker regarding renewal, student premium, and student communications
Coordinate student renters’ insurance billing with SGU Housing Dept for on-campus students
Coordinate cancellation of premium for no-shows to renters’ insurance Broker and Student Finances
Coordinate with SGU insurance broker in providing updated list of affiliated clinical hospitals and corresponding student head count and all other requested information, for annual renewal application
Provide completed and signed renewal application to SGU insurance broker yearly and in a timely manner
Provide proof of Malpractice Insurance to hospitals or universities for current students taking out of network rotations as requested
Monitor air evacuation enrollment for all students as well as traveling NY faculty, SGU employees, vendors, and staff.
Stays up to date on all recent legal and professional requirements related to health insurance programs
Serves as primary advisor to the Vice President for Student Operations on all issues affecting student health insurance matters
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
This job is performed at a workstation in a positive, creative and collaborative environment that may sometimes become quite noisy.
This is a largely sedentary role.
The ability to maintain good concentration while dealing with interruptions.

Hours and Travel
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm
Must be flexible in coming in early or working late as needed.
Travel may be required to our campuses.
Bachelor’s degree required.
