The Department of Finance & Insurance within the College of Business at East Carolina University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position at either the Associate Professor rank or Professor rank. This position will be accompanied by the IIANC-NCSLA-W. Kurt Fickling Professorship in Risk Management and Insurance. Employment will begin in August 2023, with the possibility of beginning in January 2023. The candidate selected for the professorship will be expected to enhance the college's national reputation through excellent research, excellent teaching, student mentoring, and appropriate service to the university, community and profession. The successful candidate will have instructional responsibilities (3/3) in the Department of Finance and Insurance teaching courses relevant to insurance and/or finance. In coordination with the Director of the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program, the candidate will be expected to enhance cohesion and synergy among all internal and external stakeholders. The RMI program is very active in terms of experiential learning opportunities and travel, and the candidate will be expected to regularly participate in those activities. Initial appointment to the Professorship will be for 5 years and may be renewable.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
This appointment requires a PhD in the teaching field or related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACS guidelines; have an established record of publication and evidence of the ability to develop, implement, and maintain a significant, continuous stream of research in the Finance and/or Insurance field as required to achieve tenure; and evidence of above average teaching ability.
For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, requires a minimum of 4 years of university teaching at the Assistant Professor level as well as an established record of research, teaching, and service with extensive publication in peer-reviewed journals.
