Position Description: Under the Direction of the General Liability Manager, the EPL Risk Control Analyst is responsible for Office of Insurance and Risk Management Employment Practices Program. Provides risk analysis and recommendations in the development of techniques to reduce potential exposure for financial loss. As assigned, develops and implements risk control programs and strategies to prevent future losses and uses data analytics to identify claim trends. Works with several campus stakeholders to prepare, conduct and complete risk assessment evaluations, lesson's learned reviews and early intervention employment practices programs. Provides perspective and input into the risk rating of employment practices and general liability claims inventory.
As requested, identifies, collects, compiles, analyzes and administers underwriting information for the various insurance Programs for Office of the President Risk Management. Supervises, by developing data analytics, the performance of the Third- Party Administrator against performance indicators and applicable service instructions.
Manages and oversees the claim intake, collection & coordination of evidence, Third Party Administrator, experts, appraisers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders for all employment practices claims. Monitor outside counsel performance with Campus Counsel against the UCOP Outside Counsel guidelines. Introduce and facilitate all campus witness interactions to outside counsel. Attend, as requested by Supervisor, depositions of campus witnesses. Prepares reports for strategies related to retrospective reviews and disseminates summaries to campus stakeholders including the Office of Legal Affairs.
Performs complex data analysis and makes recommendations for changes and/or updates to risk management programs, initiatives, and UCLA policies & procedures. Maintains department database for Employment Practices claims, and prepares trend and data analysis on claims. Compiles results based on jurisdiction, mediations, arbitrations and other alternative dispute resolution strategies. Attends and provides summaries of results from mock trials and/or jury surveys.
As needed, represent the Regents in small claims lawsuits and be available for response and litigation support as needed. Attends trials and provides daily summaries as needed.
Upon request and as needed, support other areas of the General Liability insurance program (automobile, general liability, property).
