Manager, Enterprise Risk Management Programs - (22000012)

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is seeking a Manager, Enterprise Risk Management Program in the Office of the President. This position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and monitoring methods and processes used by University stakeholders to analyze risks and seize opportunities related to the achievement of the University's mission, values, and goals. The manager will report to the Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management.

Primary Duties:

Work closely with many Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)-focused University leaders to ensure efficient and seamless direction. Support the ERM program as it evolves and grows. Advise the management on day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness and optimizing resources related to ERM. Plan, develop, and coordinate long- and short-term, often complex, projects as directed.
Collect and analyze data, tracks and reports on ERM program progress. Privy to specialized, sensitive, and private confidential data, information, conversations, and communications.
Facilitate communication among and workflow between ERM leadership and administrative departments and units on campus. Collaborate with individuals involved in ERM across campus to actively drive forward ERM strategic and operational objectives. Attend ERM-related meetings and represent that position at University meetings.
Staff and participate in ERM-related operational leadership meetings and managing agenda preparation and follow up action items. Contribute to preparation for ERM-related strategic leadership meetings.
Serve as a liaison for ERM issues and ensure accurate, proper, and timely flow of information to and from the ERM program and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in in risk management, higher education leadership, public sector leadership, public administration, finance, information technology, or a related field.

Master's or graduate degree preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years of post-undergraduate professional work experience. Graduate studies can be substituted for work experience. At least three (3) years of higher education, health care, non-profit, or government experience preferred.

Other: Skill in exercising initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.

Ability to manage conflict, and work well with a diverse community of colleagues and constituents.
Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with individuals at all organizational levels throughout the university.
Advise on and make decisions on critical projects despite considerable environmental uncertainty that makes decision-making difficult.
Demonstrated experience exercising judgment, project planning, and goal accomplishment; wide degree of professional maturity and discretion and confidentiality expected.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Contributes to development and evaluation of goals and objectives. Creates solutions to ensure legal and policy compliance. May supervise, mentor, or coordinate work of others (positions that supervise are responsible for service delivery, quality assurance, and employee performance). May independently manage or administer programs, processes, projects, or resources.
Applies advanced, expert level knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills. Substantial latitude in decision making. Sets goals and objectives to align with defined strategy. Informs supervisor of progress. Works on ambiguous matters generally without precedent or structure and independently develops standardization and protocol. Makes departures from traditional approaches to develop novel solutions. Influences strategy, program, policy development, and best practices. Acts as expert resource to others.

Hiring Range: Mid 80's up to Low 90's (Commensurate with education and experience)
