Department SummaryRisk Management is a cooperative effort between the Risk Management and Environment Health & Safety (EHS), as well as with the University Police Department, Campus Safety Committee, Building Evacuation Coordinators, and all of the management, faculty, and staff working at CSUSB.
The Risk Management function on the CSUSB campus has been authorized by the Chancellor's Office through California State University Risk Management Policy,
Executive Order 1069, and other risk-related guidance issued by the CSU. CSUSB has established a risk management policy to reduce the risk of loss exposures to the university. This risk management program provides a process for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling campus activities in order to minimize the adverse effects of losses.
Our mission is to reduce losses without unnecessarily limiting activities that advance CSUSB's mission and goals.
Job SummaryThe Training, and Learning Management System Specialist is a training and communication subject matter expert that oversees the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Risk Management training programs and learning management system.
Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
- Developing, integrating, and executing comprehensive training programs, procedures, standards, processes, and actions throughout the campus to drive EHS and Risk Management vision, mission, policy, and strategies.
- Administrate the Learning Management System (LMS) establish and maintain training curriculums in LMS, assign training courses, and track training completion status.
- Perform training needs assessment based on job duties, exposures, and compliance requirements. Develop department and/or job specific training plan and matrix.
- Partner with internal subject matter experts to design and facilitate EHS and Risk Management instructor lead and/or job specific training courses using sound training techniques with an emphasis on Adult Learning Principles and participant learning style preferences. Training sessions should include classroom, demonstrative (hands-on), and select online curriculum, etc.
- Collect EHS and Risk Management training metrics and KPIs to discover trends for continuous improvement or corrective measures. Generates periodic compliance status reports to management.
- Evaluate course content and effectiveness over time and make enhancements, revisions, and updates to the training curriculum as appropriate or as dictated by business needs.
- Identify competent and/or qualified internal and external resources to deliver all online and in person training courses.
- Develop and implement mechanisms to promote safety culture through information sharing on various media platforms. Prepare and disseminate educational materials, including brochures, posters, workshops, and web-based materials to inform the campus community their roles and responsibilities on EHS and risk mitigation. Coordinate communication and outreach activities and events to promote compliance and safety culture.
- Design and maintain Risk Management and EHS website.
Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work ScheduleMonday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.
Key Qualifications - Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply extensive expertise to complex programs and/or administrative specialties, including pertinent laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in and advanced knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and business administration and operational and fiscal management.
- Demonstrated consultative skills in working with internal and external constituent groups.
- Expertise in administrative survey techniques, operations and systems analysis, statistical and research methods, and the ability to interpret and evaluate results to develop sound conclusions and recommend new or revised policies.
- Ability to understand problems from a broad, interactive perspective and discern applicable underlying principles to conceive of and develop strategic solutions.
- Ability to work with representatives from public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations.
- Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts in written or presentation format and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus.
- Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
- Extensive expertise in the design and development of formal and informal learning experiences for the adult learner including skill in needs analysis, collaborating with subject matter experts, developing training guides and supporting materials, writing audio scripts, and implementing interactive in-person and online learning activities.
- Experience utilizing a variety of methods to discover, capture, and distribute available information and resources to provide learners with targeted, high-quality intellectual assets.
- Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of current Learning Management Systems (LMS), and experience applying a variety of learning technologies and online publishing programs to address specific learning and performance needs.
- Demonstrated ability to independently extract broad organizational patterns from detailed information and disparate sources with a proven track record of aligning development activities to support and influence long-term objectives.
Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, PLUS four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience AND a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in training and learning management, instructional design, and use of Learning Management Systems(LMS).
SalaryAnticipated Hiring Range: $4,963 per month
Classification Salary Range: $4,693 - $8,489 per month
