The Pennsylvania State University seeks an Insurance Program Manager to design and administer the commercial property/liability insurance and self-insurance programs of Penn State Health (PSH), the University's health system, in tandem with the University's Insurance Manager. This position will also work with Penn State Health and University Risk Managers to identify, evaluate, and manage risk; and build system-wide risk and insurance workflows, policies/procedures, and best practices. The job will be based at Penn State Health in Hershey, Pennsylvania and may require occasional travel to other Penn State Health and University locations in Pennsylvania.
Primary position duties include working with the University's Risk and Insurance Managers as well as insurance brokers and insurers to identify health system-specific exposures and insurance coverage needs, underwriting requirements, and program design (including utilizing the University's captive insurance company when appropriate). This position also works closely with health system leadership to identify health system risks and potential insurance and non-insurance risk avoidance and transfer solutions. The Penn State Health Insurance Program Manager will present risk management and insurance coverage interpretation and advise health system leadership as required; lead risk and insurance efforts during potential Penn State Health acquisitions; and review insurance requirements contained in contractual agreements entered into by Penn State Health.
The successful candidate for this position will serve as a risk and insurance expert to health system and University leadership and other stakeholders, and must demonstrate knowledge of broad concepts, policies and procedures related to commercial property/liability insurance and self-insurance programs, as well as risk and insurance workflows, policies/procedures, and best practices. Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus 10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior commercial insurance-related experience and health system experience is preferred. Insurance designation(s) such as CPCU, ARM, CIC, etc. is preferred.
