Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student and Registration Services, the Executive Director will supervise curricular planning and manage the day-to-day operations of the office. The Executive Director will have experience in a fast-paced registrar’s office and be willing to serve as a thought partner to the Associate Dean in ways to improve and enhance the office process and procedures.
Lead the creation of a comprehensive project list, and exercise supervision to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks. The Executive Director will manage and supervise the department’s administrative support staff and officers, which consists of two (2) full-time Administrative Assistants, the Registration Services Officer, the Communications Manager, and the Assistant Director of Registration Services. Liaise with the IT team to ensure software is configured and prepared to support various phases of the office (pre-registration, add/drop).
When the curriculum is set, review meeting times and minutes to ensure compliance with ABA Standard 310 and NY Court of Appeals rules regarding meeting times. Work with the Director for Curricular Planning to create an easily accessible and transparent database of faculty information related to curriculum design. Work with IT to ensure full utilization of Coursedog software in identifying faculty preferences and room utilization and to ensure course information is entered into software to facilitate creation of curriculum guide. Provide information to the Assistant Director, Faculty Support to ensure adjunct faculty members are aware of information needed to successfully teach and submit grades.
Engagement with Other Stakeholders
Consult with University Registrar’s office and law school stakeholders to draft academic year calendars and pre-registration and add/drop calendars. Respond to inquiries for various reports. Ensure records are accurately transmitted to University Registrar’s office.
Support Mission of the Office
Complete other duties as assigned, especially during peak windows such as add/drop and exams, and serve as a thought partner to the Associate Dean to develop process and procedures for various decisions.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; graduate degree highly preferred
Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experiencein the registrar’s office of a college or graduate school
Must have demonstrated experience supervising
Must have experience thriving in a fast-paced environment
Superior organizational, interpersonal, and communications (both written and oral) skills
Proven record of maintaining confidentiality
Experience with database management and data analysis
Fluency in Microsoft Office suite required; experience with other course management and registration systems a plus
Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment
