The Pennsylvania State University seeks a demonstrated leader to serve as the Associate Director in Internal Audit.
Primary position duties include developing, preparing, and directing an annual program for IT, financial, and operational audit coverage across all areas of the University. These audits include evaluation of internal controls; compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations; risks to the University; and suspected fraud, waste, and abuse.
The Associate Director reviews and approves detailed audit plans, including types of tests to be performed, the time budget, audit techniques and procedures to meet audit objectives, as well as determines the type of functional expertise required for each audit and recommends staff assignments accordingly. Also, serves as a member of University level advisory committees.
The successful candidate for this position will serve as the technical advisor for the Director of Internal Audit and will direct the activities of unit supervisors to ensure audit objectives are met effectively and in conformance with established audit standards. They must possess:
High level of project management skills to direct both routine and complex audits that can have University-wide impact.
Ability to address complex, highly-varied problems that may require novel and creative approaches to resolution.
High accountability for department staff and various University-wide audit projects. The successful candidate must exercise a high level of integrity and self-management, as well as develop goals and objectives that support the team's high level of performance.
High level of communication and diplomacy skills to direct conversations around audit process and recommendations. This position communicates at all levels of the University. These communications often involve significant and complex situations, and the successful candidate must be able to relay this information in a way that is objective and adaptive to the audience.
Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Equivalent combination may include a Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of related experience. CPA, CIA preferred.
