Job Summary Statement: The Senior Director, UCLA Payroll Partner Department oversees multiple functions in a complex department with critical impact across UCLA's campus and medical center, including teams that: train and assist departmental Payroll Administrators, ensure compliance with complex federal guidelines regarding employment eligibility and tax residency, and facilitate more accurate and timely pay to all employees. He/She manages a team of 35+ career employees, as well as significantly more human and financial resources as required to support large-scale, multi-year stabilization and system upgrade projects.
The UCLA Payroll Partner department is responsible for myriad of payroll-related services and solutions, including: Establishing and leading collaborative partnerships with UCLA stakeholders in Academic, Medical, and Central Office organizations to identify, prioritize, and resolve UCPath defects and other improvement opportunities; Providing payroll support for gross pay and general ledger (GL) issues; Overseeing and administering UCLA's Time Reporting System (TRS); Managing the upload and processing of Mass PayPath and pay files; Leading the employment eligibility verification process and acting is UCLA's office of record for Form I-9; Overseeing the tax reporting compliance system for UCLA's Nonresident Alien population; Developing and implementing UCLA's UCPath/Payroll e-Learning curriculum, Training Guides and Job Aids, Workshops, Newsletter, function-specific communications, and website for UCLA UCPath, a highly complex and interconnected system; and Managing PPS legacy system records and Issue resolution.
He/She develops strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and represents UCLA in UCOP and UC systemwide committees, influencing policy, systems, and process decisions.

Expert knowledge of financial analysis and reporting, as well as accounting and payroll, and of system applications for technical support of those functions; strong knowledge of human resources and risk management. Required

Proven ability to apply executive-level analysis to plans and proposals, then spot and troubleshoot weaknesses therein to recommend improvement approaches; ensure the inclusion of appropriate measurements toward achievement, and hold those involved to be accountable while actively supporting success. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field, or the equivalent in professional experience and knowledge; MBA and/or higher-level certification, or the equivalent in professional experience and knowledge. Required
