This individual is responsible for the coordination of Risk Management internal operations and day-to-day administration support for various insurance programs and claims management activities. The Risk & Insurance Coordinator will report to the Director, Risk Management & Insurance, and will be the primary support staff for the Claims Manager in adjudication of the University’s self-insured workers’ compensation program, including bill review, invoice processing, and record management. The role will also be responsible for overseeing the administration of additional services offered by Risk Management to members of the University community, including but not limited to notary services, credentialing, special event management, certificates of insurance, and the safe driver program. Lastly, this role will also serve the broader Risk function (EHS and Risk) in general office and website needs, as appropriate.
Supports Claims Manager by processing a high volume of self-insured workers compensation claim invoices, including appropriate bill review with vendor partners, and accurate repository of documentation in RMIS software.
Checks accuracy of bill reviews, works with management to resolve any billing issues, and prepares reports as requested.
Responds to requests for information from third party vendors and hospital providers to ensure consistency of documentation and authorization for claimants.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with campus partners, vendors, and hospital providers.
Insurance Program Support
Provides administrative support to the Director of Risk Management and Claims Analyst for the University’s tuition refund insurance program, fleet management, safe driver program, and any other applicable programs as assigned.
Assists the department in coordination of claim, exposure, and invoice information in the RMIS software system.
Responsible for liability, property, excess, and automobile insurances and working with insurance companies to track insurance certificates and working with other vendors on contractual requirements.
General Office Administration
Organize and coordinate office operations and procedures for Risk Management.
Contacts relevant personnel for troubleshooting office issues and identifies service improvement opportunities.
Creates and maintains associated documents, spreadsheets, databases, etc. as needed.
Systems & Website Support
Manages design and development of databases and/or department websites.
Acts as liason to IT to ensure technology systems/software are properly installed and maintained for Risk Management.
Identifies and improves workflow of processes within RMIS system.
Performs other duties as assigned.
At least 2+ years at an insurance carrier, third-party administrator, or internal risk management function.
