The Senior Internal Auditor is part of the office of Audit, Risk & Compliance at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor responsible for executing audits and advisory services. This position performs independent and objective reviews of University financial and operational processes, regulatory compliance, and information systems and provides expertise regarding internal controls across the institution. Reporting directly to the Associate/Assistant Director of ARC , the Senior Internal Auditor collaborates among the audit team and partners with a variety institutional clients to successfully complete audits/projects.
The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for executing audits from the planning phase through the reporting phase of the audit process. Further, the Senior Internal Auditor will assist management in advisory service/consulting projects, investigations and the promotion of internal controls throughout Vanderbilt University.
ARC serves Vanderbilt's Board and management by providing independent assessments of the University's governance, risk and control activities. We provide value added services which identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and promote a robust internal control environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform audits in accordance with IIA and ISACA standards
Able to proficiently use technical audit tools (e.g., Engagement, Excel, IDEA data analytics)
Think critically about risks and controls within various operations and processes throughout the University (e.g. Information Technology, Research Labs, Finance, Student Services)
Effectively communicate with all levels of management
Document audit findings in a clear and concise manner
Develop technical knowledge and expertise within the field of higher education
Deliver project status to management and communicate roadblocks
Utilize effective time management skills to perform work within allocated budget
Provides timely responses both internally to management and externally to clients
Exhibits ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects at one time

Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar field isnecessary.
Master of Business Administration degree, Accounting or similar field is preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) license isnecessary. Pursuance with completion within two years of employment is also acceptable.
Minimum of four years of experience in public accounting or internal auditing isnecessary . Higher education experience is preferred .
Experience performing a variety of audits (compliance, process, financial and IT) is preferred .
