This position is in the Department of Pathology and Immunology. The position is located at 4533 Clayton Avenue. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Position is responsible for manual registration for pathology services, working credits, reviewing charges in multiple systems, problem solving and other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resolves registration edits for claims pending in charge review. Verifies accuracy and completeness to clear all claim edits. Contact insurance companies and/or patients to obtain or verify insurance eligibility.
Assists with processing charges and error messages received via various interfaces.
Acts a backup for manual charge entry and daily credit reports.
Acts as backup support for accounts receivable staff during peak vacation times and/or illness.
Other duties as assigned by manager and/or director.
High School diploma or equivalent high school certification with two to three years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
ICD-10 & CPT coding as well as medical billing & reimbursement processes.
Working knowledge of charge entry and registration processes.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and maintain exceptional organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
Possess effective oral & written communication skills.
Meets the established productivity and quality assurance standards to ensure charges and patient registration are entered correctly and timely.�
Working knowledge of computers and general office equipment including Microsoft Word & Excel.
The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
