Reporting to the Associate Director, incumbent independently applies knowledge of and experience with post-award financial research administration policies and procedures (including regulatory, sponsor, and UC/UCD policies) to assess and resolve issues and improve unit operations. Responsible for the administration of the personnel, development and monitoring of the work plan, definition of goals, personnel development, performance appraisal and exercising disciplinary actions. Supervises and provides training for new staff and ongoing coaching/training for entire team. Coordinates actions with the other fund management team supervisors. Provides backup support in event of other supervisors' absences. Manages a minimal portfolio of awards in order to maintain hands-on involvement with the core activities of the unit. Eligible for expanded delegated signature authority. Reviews and approves transactions/reports for team fund management analysts. Per instruction of the Division Director, may temporarily fill in for some duties of the Associate Director during absences.
**This position will start 100% remote, and a flexible work arrangement will be negotiated upon return to the office**
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in research /technical services contracts and grants.
Experience with personnel management and supervision principles and practices, including developing position descriptions, goal-setting & performance reviews, recruitment and hiring, disciplinary actions, work planning and scheduling, training and professional development, and conflict resolution.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial administration principles and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as they relate to contract and grant administration.
Demonstrated experience using analytical tools to independently analyze, research, develop and implement solutions to compliance problems and issues.
Demonstrated experience to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline-driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities and accommodate various business needs.
CFRA/CRA or equivalent (or to be obtained within two year of hiring).
Minimum of four years’ experience in a supervisory position.
Minimum of six years’ experience Fund Management functions.
4 or more years’ experience working in a university research environment.
CPA or Master Degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
