Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance & University Controller, the Associate Controller is responsible for overseeing and supporting financial reporting, general accounting and tax compliance. This position ensures the University’s financial records are properly managed and stated, assets are safeguarded, account analyses are performed, financial reporting requirements and compliance initiatives are timely managed, financial staff are fully supported and recommends and implements accounting policies and operational procedures. This position actively recommends and implements ways to improve, streamline, and automate current financial systems, financial results, and accounting processes; works cooperatively with financial services staff, campus departments, and other university administrators to resolve campus-wide accounting issues.; and assists the University Controller and the Associate Vice President for Finance & Administration with special projects, prepares special reports for executive management, and performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and technical competencies in accounting, financial concepts and financial accounting standards, regulations and best practices to include generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) as they related to higher education accounting activities.
Demonstrated experience and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
Demonstrated experience with Banner or similar enterprise financial management software application.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects.
Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies.

Additional Salary Information: Range of $70,000 - $90,000
