Saint Joseph’s University Manager, Financial Reporting Position Summary: The Manager of Financial Reporting is responsible for the financial reporting functions of the University. This involves applying professional accounting principles and techniques to the transactions to ensure that the University’s financial statements are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Manager of Financial Reporting provides support to management within the Controller’s office in regards to general accounting and treasury functions. Duties and Responsibilities: - Work closely with management to identify and analyze financial issues and provide strategic planning efforts
- Collaborate on new areas of consideration that would impact the university’s financial statements and financial ratios
- Prepare monthly financial reporting package and variance analysis
- Collaborate with the Controller’s team to ensure the preparation and accuracy of annual financial reporting and footnotes
- Maintain the accounting and financial reporting for the University’s related party entity
- Prepare annual financial reporting surveys
- Maintain compliance and contractual obligations placed on funds by bondholders
- Calculate the S&P ratio for the University’s rating review
- Initiate, review and/or approve bank services and transactions including merchant services, wire and ACH transfers
- Review and approve entries prepared by direct reports
- Maintain fixed assets and capital accounting. This will include recording and monitoring of all capital projects and reconciliation to general ledger
- Prepare all bond related entries, including debt service and amortization
- Prepare daily journal entries as needed
- Perform various accounts reconciliation
Secondary Responsibilities: - Assist in research, interpretation and application of new and existing accounting pronouncements
- Work with the Controller’s team to develop formal accounting procedures
- Participate on various university committees
- Timely responses to all e-mails and/or telephone inquiries
- Supervision of OFA staff members
- Other duties as assigned by management
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: - Ability to use computer for extended periods of time
- Position may require additional hours to be worked during fiscal year end annual audit and/or during month end
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- 3-5years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting experience
Preferred Qualifications: - CPA and/or MBA
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Banner Finance
