The vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer leads all financial functions to include accounting, budgeting, and investments. In collaboration with colleagues, the vice president develops and implements comprehensive business and financial plans that align with Walsh’s strategies and mission. The position directs preparation of financial reports, various analyses, and projections. In addition, the vice president provides leadership and strategic oversight for facilities, technology, risk management, and auxiliary services. The position interfaces frequently with the Board of Trustees and acts as a liaison for two Board committees. Working with the president and senior leaders, the vice president builds and develops strategic partnerships resulting in growth and diversification. The position collaborates and communicates with internal and external constituents to support a culture of respect, inclusion, and transparency. Major Responsibilities: - Lead accounting, financial, facilities, information technology, risk management, real estate, bookstore, dining services, and vendor management/purchasing functions.
- Direct the preparation of annual, strategic, and capital budgets, financial statements, forecasts, governmental and compliance reports, and various analyses.
- Oversee external and internal audits.
- Build and develop strategic partnerships resulting in additional growth and diversification.
- Manage financing/capital acquisition function and related financial institutional relationships.
- Oversee investment management strategy and external advisors.
- Monitor and manage cash flow.
- Develop and update short and long range technology plans.
- Plan and execute facilities upgrades, renovations, and other capital improvements.
- Oversee campus safety and security.
- Ensure currency and periodic testing of business continuity, emergency, disaster recovery plans.
- Oversee risk management function, including general insurance coverage.
- Administer frozen defined benefit pension.
- Participate in or lead assessing the feasibility of new programs, services, and other initiatives.
- As a member of the executive leadership team, prepare short and long range plans; develop and implement policies; participate in operational decisions and communicate results and plans to various audiences.
- Lead and develop staff members and outsourced services.
- Interface frequently with the Board of Trustees to prepare for Board meetings; develop and deliver presentations.
- Act as the treasurer for the Walsh Foundation.
- Establish and update related policies in consultation with trustees, executive management and other constituents, as required.
- Ensure compliance with all related regulations and higher education requirements.
