Goucher College's Assistant Controller will provide oversight of key accounting functions including debt, investments, gift reporting, and split interest agreements; record, reconcile and review general ledger activity, including but not limited to charitable gift accounting and endowment accounting; prepare end of year and interim financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles for the College and the 403B plans; facilitate the financial statement, 403B and single audits; prepare and monitor debt covenants; prepare 990 information and serve the Goucher community on an ad hoc basis, providing financial information, as needed. The Assistant Controller will be asked to attend Goucher wide community events. Additionally, support the Controller and Vice President for Finance and Administration with Board committee and senior staff reporting.
Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, a CPA certification, and at least three years of general ledger accounting. Experience with treasury functions including investments and debt, is preferred for this role. Successful candidates must be able to prepare financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the tax form 990. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex accounting matters to non-financial community members. Although not required, experience in the higher education industry is preferred. Candidates must have a mastery of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
Preferred candidates will have additional accounting certifications or degrees, investment experience and experience in Microsoft Dynamics.
