INSTITUTE RISK OFFICER , Risk Management & Compliance Services (RMCS) , to oversee and take steps to enhance RMCS' comprehensive, Institute-wide system of risk management. Will be guided by the principle of informed risk-taking and charged with ensuring that MIT's leadership understands the Institute's risk profile. Will do this by implementing and championing a risk management system that actively identifies and assesses risks and opportunities in order to maintain Institute risk at an acceptable level as determined by its leadership, and by influencing strategic direction and decision-making as it relates to informed risk taking. Will also be responsible for the Institute-wide risk management system, including overseeing the Risk Management and Compliance Services Office which engages with MIT's senior administration and the Risk & Audit Committee of the MIT Corporation to mutually inform and educate, with the goal of aligning mission-important initiatives with informed risk taking; and for collaborating closely with people and offices across MIT, including the Office of the General Counsel, the manager of institutional compliance, the Audit Division, and the Insurance Office. Will report to the vice president and general counsel.
REQUIRED : a B.A./B.S.; at least ten years' risk management or related experience, including business experience in industry and higher education; experience with strategy formation, planning, and implementation; excellent analytical, project management, communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills; ability to handle multiple projects and competing demands, express complex concepts to individuals at all levels, and influence decisions if needed.
