James Madison University is recruiting for a senior level internal auditor for its internal auditing program. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is supported by an audit committee, complies with IIA standards and has a periodic quality assurance review conducted. Salary is dependent on applicant qualifications, depth of overall experience, and ability to independently conduct all aspects of a variety of audits.
Job duties include planning audits, analyzing processes, evaluating controls, developing audit programs, conducting financial, operational, compliance, special audits or consulting engagements, and drafting audit reports.

Financial, operational, or compliance audit experience
General knowledge of information technology
Expertise with Microsoft Office products
A professional certification such as CPA, CFE, CIA, CISA, or evidence of progression towards achieving certification.
Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, information systems, engineering, computer science, and/or a related business area.
Strong oral and impeccable written communication skills
Knowledge of IIA standards, generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards
Analytical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, curiosity, and a sense of humor
Two year’s experience in internal auditing and/or public accounting
Experience auditing in a university setting
Experience with PeopleSoft, data analytics, and/or automated work papers
