Darwin B. Close Professor of Insurance and Risk Management
The Department of Finance at Bowling Green State University invites applications for a tenured position at the Full Professor level with Darwin B. Close Professorship with a primary interest in Insurance and Risk Management and a secondary interest in any area of Finance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY: Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels and conducting high quality research leading to publication. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership for the Insurance and Risk Management program. The individual will also be expected to participate actively in departmental programs and college/university-wide and community service activities. Both undergraduate and MBA programs are AACSB accredited.
THE UNIVERSITY AND THE COLLEGE: BGSU (www.bgsu.edu) is a public, state-assisted residential university with approximately 19,000 students, including 2,500 at BGSU Firelands, and nearly 900 full-time faculty. The University offers more than 200 undergraduate majors and programs on the main campus; 8 baccalaureate and 14 associate degree programs at Firelands campus. The main campus is located 25 miles south of Toledo, Ohio. The College of Business (www.bgsu.edu/business.html), one of seven colleges and four schools in the University, has six departments with more than 100 full- and part-time faculty. The College currently has over 1,900 undergraduate majors in fifteen undergraduate specialization programs and 400 graduate students in six graduate programs including a Master of Business Administration. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Finance currently has six full-time and two part-time/adjunct faculty members and offers programs leading to the BSBA degree with a specialization and a minor in Finance and Insurance & Risk Management, and the Master of Business Administration. The Department also offers the CFA Concentration and the Financial Planning Concentration within the Finance specialization.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess an earned Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Insurance & Risk Management, Finance or a closely related field. Quality teaching and research in Insurance/Risk Management/Finance will be evaluated on demonstrated record for excellence in teaching (teaching evaluations, awards, etc.) and a distinguished record of research in Insurance/Risk Management/Finance with an ongoing research agenda aimed at high quality publications in Insurance/Risk Management/Finance journals. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in Insurance and Risk Management is required, and industry experience is preferred.
