Responsible for supervisining the Accounting Services team which is responsible ffor handling our specific ACH bank account and bank lockbox deposits. Monitor team to assure job functions are being completed timely & accurately. Work with manager to make decisions relative to the operation of the department. Work with all Washington University School of Medicine departments & Washington University Clinical Associate (WUCA) groups with cash processing procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage accounting aspects required for effective business operations, including but not limited to, bank deposit management, payables and receivables, credit card reconciliation, and timely accurate general ledger activity.
Hire, train and supervise accounting staff of 5 FTE’s who handle day-to-operations.
Hire, train and supervise mailroom staff of 1+ FTE who handle the daily sorting of correspondence.
Analyze accounting systems and processes for areas where additional streamlining, enhancements, or general system/process improvements can be made. Develop and take action when necessary and appropriate and/or make recommendations to management to implement process improvements to increase efficiencies and cost savings.
Ensure compliance with University internal controls, which includes managing system security access, purchasing and payroll controls and approvals, appropriate separation of duties for cash management tasks, and timely reconciliations of all applicable general ledger accounts.
Creates/manages documentation of cash management procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum 5 years of detail accounting experience or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.
Self-motivated individual driven by challenge with the ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity; an analytical mind with a high degree of intelligence and the ability to “think on his/her feet”.
Must have a strong work ethic and attention to the smallest of details.
Strong computer knowledge with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Working knowledge of AIS/FIS or WorkDay.
Working knowledge of Epic.
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

Equivalent of Associate’s degree with 5 years related experience, preferably in medical insurance setting with supervisory duties.

The hiring range for this position is $51,272 - $65,374 annually.
