Business and Auxiliary Services is seeking a talented Buyer of the General Merchandise Department for The University Store on Fifth, The Pitt Shop and The Pitt Shop at the Pete.
The Buyer reports to the Merchandise Manager and is responsible for managing all aspects of the department, including but not limited to, insignia gifts, regalia, medical school supplies, school & art supplies, general gifts & greeting cards. Responsibilities include retail buying, trade book buying, budgeting and financial analysis, sales, merchandising and promotions, planning and implementation.
Some weekend and event hours are required seasonally. Overtime will be required as necessary to accomplish departmental goals and assure coverage for events and during peak times.

Baccalaureate and 3 years minimum general merchandise buying and/or management experience with 2 years in a supervisory position preferred. Or 5 years minimum of general merchandise experience and 2 years in a supervisory position preferred. Must have strong knowledge of the retail and college markets. Experience in retail principles and practices, sales, inventory management and systems, web sales, merchandising and marketing and customer service is expected. Collegiate licensing experience preferred.
