The Director: Under general supervision of the University Controller, the Director is responsible for developing strategies for efficient and effective processing and reporting of payroll. This position's primary responsibility is to provide leadership to ensure the organizational effectiveness and financial integrity of the payroll and related tax functions. Directs the activities of the payroll team and staff members ensuring a highly effective and customer-service focused team. Including processing, time & labor, and tax-related functions; performing advanced managerial work; and developing controls necessary to accomplish operational objectives.
With the implementation of Oracle Cloud HCM for human resource and payroll operations, this position provides direction for improvement of the use of that system or any other directly or indirectly related systems. Work also involves establishing goals and objectives; developing guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; evaluating activities; and coordinating activities.
Sample of Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field.
Minimum of eight years of closely related professional experience.
Extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures related to payroll operations (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
Extensive knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations related to payroll operations, particularly employment tax and international tax (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
A Christian faith.
Master's degree (Business Administration or related field)
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience in higher education
Knowledge of Oracle HCM
