Responsible for reviewing and evaluating insurance filing order changes of past visits to retroactively apply coverage changes and bill appropriate insurance coverage. Perform follow up on eligibility denials and identify active insurance coverages.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review insurance follow up records that appear in the Visit Filing Order work queues to determine whether the insurance change should be accepted or rejected.
Perform collection follow up duties from all payors for insurance claims that have received a denial of eligibility from the payor, including those related to coordination of benefits.
Utilize payor websites and real time eligibility to confirm patient coverages.
Contact patients and / or guarantors as needed to confirm insurance coverages.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Assist with special projects.
Consistently meet both quality assurance and productivity standards established for the department.
Responsible for investigating coverage changes that affect existing visits in order to bill appropriate coverage.
Accepting or rejecting coverages has direct impact on insurance billing and accounts receivables.
Equivalent of High School diploma with 2 to 3 years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.
Epic experience is preferred.
Thorough understanding of insurance terminology relating to plan options and benefits.
Working knowledge of general office equipment and computer billing systems.
Organization and communication skills that require discretion with confidential information.
Able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and be capable of working in an environment with time constraints and productivity requirements.
Detail orientated and possess problem solving skills pertaining to the identification of insurance issues along with knowledge of insurance coverage and benefits.

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
