The Patient Financial Services Department (PFS) is seeking an Eligibility Insurance Specialist to secure and verify new/updated insurance information in order to submit accurate and timely filing of insurance claims for reimbursement by contacting patients via phone or email while identify ing and communicating issues to the Management team as they arise .
Review and process all visits compiled into the assigned work file
Contact patient by phone and/or e-mail to obtain current insurance information and ascertains if patients correct assignment of insurance is in order to gain proper reimbursement from carriers
Receive return phone calls from patients who left messages in an attempt to make contact and respond to patients faxed documents in order tosecure current insurance coverage documentation
Utilize all appropriate systems when conducting research or analyzing accounts (e.g., RMS, RAM, HIS, Insurance websites)
Resolve all assigned Hold Bills and Alerts in a timely manner as well as Coordination of Benefits, insurance updates, and other reports as needed
Inquire on specific accounts as directed by management; conduct investigation on insurance updates status, and other issues as required
Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged, using both formal and informal development
Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances
Thorough, detail-oriented, highly organized and able to perform with a high level of accuracy under pressure
An excellent communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
Ableto exercise judgment in applying departmental policies and procedures when dealing with complex problems, without constant direct supervision
Knowledgeable in working with a computer-based accounts receivable system, and demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly
Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
2-4 years of experiencein a health care billing operations, preferably eligibility
Detailed knowledge in working with a computer-based accounts strongly preferred
Knowledge of Insurance Carriers and Eligibility
