This position is in the Department of Pathology and Immunology. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Position is responsible for insurance billing and collection activities, verifying accuracy and completeness of claims, contacting insurance companies as well as other related duties to expedite payments from payers for pathology services.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs collection follow up duties for third party payers to ensure timely and accurate payment of pathology services. Utilize payer websites to confirm claim receipt and claim status.
Review invoices, correspondence and remittances for accuracy of posting of payments and rejections.
Perform daily mail run, sort mail/correspondence/paper claims, distribute/mail & route to appropriate area.
Acts as backup support for accounts receivable staff during peak vacation times and/or illnesses.
Assist with special projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned by manager and/or director.
Equivalent of High School diploma with 2 to 3 years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 & CPT coding as well as medical billing & reimbursement processes.
Must be able to prioritize and maintain exceptional organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
Must possess effective oral & written communication skills.
Must meet the established productivity and quality assurance standards to ensure effective collections and claim resolution.
Working knowledge of computers and general office equipment including Microsoft Word & Excel.
The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
