The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the student-athlete insurance program (60%) and supports the activities of the International Risk program (40%). The primary function of this position is the management of student-athlete injury claims from inception to close including review of injury claims to insure policy requirements are met. In addition, the insurance coordinator is responsible to notify insurance carrier of new losses, administer the electronic management of student-athlete insurance policies, provide verification and review of primary health insurance, review student bills for accuracy and completeness, administer referral appointments of injured student-athletes, and serve as liaison between insurance carrier and student athletes and parents. International Risk activities include management of international travel policies for coverage determination, educating travelers prior to departure of insurance coverage and emergency procedures, providing proof of insurance upon request and management of Penn’s travel tracking database. This position also provides support to travelers involved in incidents abroad, including review of incident reports for accuracy, outreach to travelers, updating the incident database and shared responsibility of the on-call phone. The Insurance Coordinator will report directly to the Director of International Risk Management with indirect reporting lines to the Head Athletic Trainer.
