The University of Virginia is recruiting for a Director of Property & Liability Risk Management to join their team. The Office of the Treasurer is the steward of the Universityâ™s financial resources, practicing sound financial management in support of academic, scientific and faculty excellence. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Finance, the Treasurerâ™s office ensures the sustainability of the Universityâ™s mission and goals through treasury management, enterprise risk management, property and liability risk management and University-Foundation relations.
The Director of Property & Liability Risk Management (DPLRM) provides leadership and direction for the Universityâ™s property and liability risk management activities. The DPLRM oversees the Universityâ™s risk management office that is responsible for establishing the risk financing, insurance strategy and assists in the development of programs, policies and best practices to reduce the Universityâ™s total cost of risk. The DPLRM and their team works to identify areas of risk and potential liability; and develop risk response strategies to mitigate loss and maximize opportunities. Our vision is to promote a culture of risk awareness by involving University stakeholders in the day-to-day management of risks. Key offices the DPLRM will partner with include but not limited to Facilities Management, UVA Medical Center Risk Management areas, Environmental Health and Safety and Office of Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
