Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Enterprise Risk Management Specialist for the Office of University Ethics and Compliance. This position is under the direction of the Enterprise Risk Management Manager and other unit leadership and works with all areas of Rutgers on the development and implementation of the University's Enterprise Risk Management Program. In this position, the Specialist is required to generate surveys that aid in the cataloging of risks, perform administrative duties in support of the ERM program, take minutes during seminars, summarize and catalog identified risks and their related mitigation plans.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Coordinates workshops with ERM team and departmental committee members.
Maintains the risk inventory and is proficient in utilizing various software packages to achieve this objective.
Remains knowledgeable and up to date on the risk assessment process, effective internal controls, mitigation strategies and their related financial/budgetary impact, in order to document and reduce areas of risk.
Interacts with all levels of university stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Office of General Counsel, Office of Labor Relations, Office of Academic Labor Relations and Office of Employment Equity, in order to assist the ERM Manager in managing, monitoring, and educating the organization to ensure risks identified by stakeholders are properly mitigated and compliant with the ERM program.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
A minimum of two years experience as an auditor or in an enterprise risk management role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience reviewing and documenting process weaknesses, internal control gaps and the appropriateness of mitigation strategies.
Experience assessing, developing, and reporting on the financial/budgetary impact of implementing a mitigation plan.
Ability to quickly and thoroughly document communications in a workshop setting.
Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.
Well organized and able to meticulously assess and summarize information in a concise and clear fashion.
Curious and willing to research and summarize new topics.
An organized self-starter with the ability to take direction, accept feedback, and enthusiastically contribute to the ERM program.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Four years experience as an auditor or in an enterprise risk management role preferred.
Experience preparing risk assessments, developing, implementing, and monitoring mitigation plans in a University setting.
Occasional travel to other campus and location is required.
