Safety and Risk Management, a division of UTC Emergency Services, promotes a safe, healthy, hazard-free environment, while providing for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements. The primary purpose of the Safety Inspector 1 is to serve as the front line eyes and ears for real or potential safety concerns. The position identifies concerns by scheduling, completing, and reporting on the inspection of campus properties (owned or operated); taking notes and photographs, and reviewing areas relative to established safety standards (federal, state, industry, or university); and reporting findings to the supervisor(s), presenting ideas to mitigate hazards, and discussing possible solutions to prevent future concerns.
Reviewing the safety program.
Following code compliance requirements.
Developing and completing inspections of areas, machinery, and devices. Inspection locations may include laboratories, academic buildings, administrative offices, residence halls, and renovation/construction sites.
Preparing work orders to other campus departments.
Preparing paperwork (hard copy and electronic), records and inspection logs, data storage and calculations.
Reporting submission to supervisor(s).
Discussing concerns and solutions with interested parties.
Assisting with daily operations in the Safety & Risk Management Office.
Completing other duties as assigned in support of the mission of Safety and Risk Management, and Emergency Services.
