The Risk Management Associate will be responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Risk Management department in a number of areas critical to the success of the department.Specific responsibilities of the position include assistance in the following areas: project coordination; vehicle, liability and property claims; data and information collection, preparation and entry into the Risk Management Information System; risk management research; web page management; motor vehicle driver record reviews; student event insurance and waivers, commercial driver's license compliance, and general risk management assistance.This position will interact with members of the University community, insurance representatives, external governmental representatives, and other outside entities and individuals.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify, Assess, Investigate and Remediate Risk:Assist with identifying and assessing risk and assuring compliance by gathering information.Assist in the investigation of incidents and with the analysis of vehicle, liability and property claims (site visits, gathering information, working in the Risk Management Information System, and communicating with UI staff, Regents RM staff, and outside parties). Assist in the identification of risks throughout the University and assist with recommendations and remediation efforts (gather information, attend meetings with departments, analyze information, write reports, and monitor results). Investigate, review and analyze motor vehicle driver record information (working with internal and external computer systems, analyzing compliance to UI policy and communicating with drivers, supervisors and HR).Maintain information in the Risk Management Information System.
Research and Planning: Perform research and provide information. Research risk management topics and issues on the web, within the UI community and with other Big Ten schools and universities.Gather and prepare information or data required for insurance policies, continuity planning, risk assessments, claims, Regents initiatives and special projects.Write risk management reports, assessments, and recommendations.Assist in the planning and tracking of departmental projects.Assist with the maintenance of the Risk Management web pages and other communication/training material.
Consultation:Respond to inquiries and may contribute to the development of guidelines and/or recommendations. Communicate with UI departments to discuss claims, data needs, or gather information.Provide consultation to UI staff and departments regarding the claims process, vehicle use, driver record process reviews, insurance coverages, continuity planning, risk analysis, event management, and other relevant risk management guidelines or policies.Assist in the development of guidelines and recommendations regarding risks.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:Draft financial reports as assigned. Reports would include but not be limited to vehicle accident reports, vehicle use reports, driver record analysis, commercial driver's license compliance reports, claim status reports, open claim reports, subrogation reports, student event insurance reports, etc.Financial analysis may include insurance premium allocations, claims financial data, and departmental financial accounts.
Provide direct assistance in various departmental areas, as needed.Broad activities include, but are not limited to, assistance with project coordination, claims, data and information, research, web page management, vehicle driver record reviews, commercial driver's license program compliance, student organization event insurance and general departmental assistance.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience in Risk Management.Related Risk Management experience may include experience in the following areas: claims handling, property and liability insurance, or risk identification and analysis.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to multi-task and handle interruptions.
Good organizational and analytical skills as well as attention to detail.
Bachelor's degree or significant undergraduate coursework in business, insurance or risk management.
Working knowledge of Origami Risk Management Information System.
Proficient in basic web page design and maintenance.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
