The Division of Finance at Rensselaer has the overarching objective to enable and facilitate growth in research, undergraduate and graduate education, philanthropy s within the clearly defined framework of the The Plan. The Division of Finance is pleased to seek applicants to serve as Investment Officer to serve the Institute in achieving its goals.
Job Summary: In collaboration with external investment professionals, the Investment Officer will manage Rensselaer’s endowment and pension plan assets in accordance with Rensselaer’s investment policies. The Investment Officer will oversee the activities of the outsourced investment firm to ensure compliance with FAS157 requirements relative to initial due diligence, reporting, and the on-going monitoring of endowment, pension funds and charitable trusts. The Investment Officer executes transactions including but not limited to: cash movements, capital calls, and distributions based on Rensselaer’s Investment Policies. The incumbent serves as a resource to Rensselaer’s Investment Committee and provides quarterly and ad hoc presentations on performance, reporting and other relevant topics.
Requirements: Candidates will have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in finance, business, accounting, statistics, economics, or related field, along with at least five (5) years of work experience in investment management or other finance-related field. Designation as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) or related certifications are desired, though not required. Experience with a University endowment and/or foundation experience is preferred. Candidates must have strong analytical and quantitative skills in order to analyze and evaluate manager performance and investment proposals, as well as a thorough knowledge of accounting, financial analysis techniques, performance measurement and modern portfolio theory
