Provides support in Patient Accounts by obtaining demographic information from patients, verifies insurance, sets up payment plans, pursues payments and verifies reimbursement on a minimum of at patients per day.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs collection follow-up duties on specific financial classifications such as commercial insurance, self-pay, Medicare and Medicaid claims.
Makes collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely payment of claims.
Reviews remittance advises for rejection and accuracy of payment amounts.
Verifies accuracy and completeness of charge tickets, monitors attachments for claims to obtain maximum reimbursement.
Processes insurance reviews for errors, attachments and corrections.
Register, verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information into billing system.
Prepares, distributes and collects fee tickets.
Contacts patients for balances and arranges appropriate payment plans.
Answers phone, explaining departmental policies for correct billing procedures to patients and insurance companies.
Batches all fee tickets and payments collected daily.
Working knowledge of computers, general office equipment, telephone console, medical terminology, collection techniques and communication skills that involve dealing with confidential information.

The minimum to midpoint of the salary range is $15.24 - $18.68 per hour.
