GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists with the leadership and direction of the Financial Services unit, working in close collaboration with the Accounting, Budgeting and Procurement groups to insure comprehensive review and approach to business practices and operations. Supports the vision and goals of the Administration and Finance division, with primary responsibility for financial planning and analysis projects in relation to University operations and projects, and the interface of those projects and initiatives throughout the University.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Vice President for Finance & Administration
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervises professional, classified, and/or student personnel as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads the development and advises senior University leadership regarding the efficient and effective deployment of resources, and ensures that resources are effectively stewarded. The successful candidate will lead the development of complex financial analyses and reports; and the development of multi-year projections.
In partnership with other offices, develop a robust financial reporting framework for the University and its operating units that meets the needs of the University, including executive leadership and academic and administrative departmental leaders. Ensures that framework meets the needs of a matrixed organization and incorporates non-financial data and metrics as required to support regular academic and administrative management and decision-making.
Provides outreach and support to all levels of administrative staff and leadership on development of financial plans and analyses. Develops and communicates efficient and transparent financial business processes that address departmental needs while also supporting the overall goals and priorities of the University. Serves as a process improvement sponsor as necessary and appropriate.
Staffs, chairs, or serves on University committees as requested. Represents the University to external parties as appropriate.
Oversee the staff in the management and development of university budget and operations, including the implementation of budgeting and position management systems, to both enhance and simplify the budget development and management processes.
Assist the AVPFA in the oversight of other financial related functions, including the coordination of efforts between the planning, budgeting, procurement, and accounting functions for the university and its affiliates.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field required. Masters' degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible financial and data analysis, reporting, planning and operational management experience in a complex educational, research or other closely related organization.
Demonstrated experience with development of varied and complex financial/programmatic analyses and reports in support of strategic decision-making.
Experienced user and developer of financial systems, analytical tools, and databases.
Demonstrated leadership ability with a proven record of success in working with all levels of leadership and staff in a rapidly changing and complex organization.
Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated project management and problem solving and ability skills to find creative solutions.
Proven ability to prioritize projects and initiate follow through with meticulous attention detail.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex data to a wide array of audiences.
Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks simultaneously with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to work with all levels of university staff, outside agencies, and the general public, and establish and maintain harmonious relationships.
Demonstrated success supervising professional and administrative staff.
Ability to successfully pass a full background/federal credit screening and CORI.
