The Risk Manager, under general direction, uses initiative and judgement to provide support and direction to the functions relating to insurance procurement, risk assessments, and scheduled inventory for the university. The position is also responsible for providing direction, oversight and supervision of the Universityâ™s transportation services and camps and conference including supervision of related staff.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as the claim coordinator by investigation and administering University property, automobile, general liability, and or workerâ™s compensation claims. Analyzes and monitors claims data.
Assists in the review and investigation of workerâ™s compensation claims to determine if safety/risk issues require attention and offers recommendations to correct any deficiencies.
Serves as the System Risk Management liaison and coordinator with University departments when insurance is needed.
Presents claim details on behalf of the University to System Risk Management.
Manages inventory lists for various products (including insurance obtained through System Risk Management to include, but not limited to: building property, contents, medical malpractice, sports accident medical, auto, special events etc.
Maintains compliance with all A&M System and TAMUC requirements.
Recommends and assists with implementing policies and procedures.
Maintains the University Emergency Operation Plan and Continuity of Operations Program, including plan development, training, information, and included resources.
Manages the Enterprise Risk Management process on campus.
Manages the University Risk Management process on campus.
Manages the University key control program which includes key request tracking and inventory.
Supervises the University fleet procedures, services, and transportation programs (including campus shuttle service, fleet rental schedule, and all fleet purchases).
Supervises the University camp and programs for minors process, training, administration, and all related requirements to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and system policy and procedures.
Provides support for the campus signage policies and procedures.
May represent department to internal staff, students or faculty.
Education: Bachelorâ™s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience (ex: High school diploma and four yearsâ™ experience or Associates degree and two yearsâ™ experience may substitute bachelorâ™s degree).
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of five (5) years related administrative experience directly relating to risk management and workerâ™s compensations insurance. Experience with computer applications, word processing, spreadsheets and database programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Must be organized and able to management multiple projects. Must be able to plan and think ahead, have good judgement and make quick decisions. Must be able to follow directives and work independently as well as in a team. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressures. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/ or work on weekends.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds with or without accommodation.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of federal, state and local rules and regulations governing limits of exposure of public entities. Fleet scheduling and route management experience. Experience working in a university setting.

Transportation Coordinator, Camp Coordinator and other staff as assigned by the Director.
