Clemson University invites nominations and applications for the position of Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations. The Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations reports directly to President James P. Clements, and is a key member of the executive leadership team. This position also works closely with the Clemson University Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities include oversight of the University’s financial and business operations which include; accounting for related organizations, accounts payable and receivable, budget office, cost and research accounting, controller’s office, human resources, land and capital asset stewardship, procurement, lean office, and university facilities. The Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations also works with various internal and external constituencies to improve the effectiveness of the University’s financial and business operations. This position also provides leadership in the University’s efforts to become more innovative and strategic in its financial practices.

The University seeks a collaborative leader with a record of professional accomplishment in the area of strategic planning, finance, and operations. Successful applicants will have outstanding administrative leadership capacity, excellent communication skills, and commitment to a diverse enterprise. Applicants should have experience as a senior executive business officer. While higher education experience is preferred, additional experiences from health related industry, government or business entities of relevant size and complexity will be considered.
Applicants must be familiar with a wide variety of financing and operational techniques and have a record of significant leadership and accomplishment in planning and implementing major business and financial systems. Knowledge of trends in enterprise resource management systems is required, as is experience in dealing with local, state, and federal legislative and regulatory issues as they affect public universities.
