Position supports all clinical practice sites with a variety of back-end billing duties to include accurate and timely processing of billing charges, working with other staff members to ensure plans of care are completed, overseeing ICD-10 coding, completing thorough review and follow-up of billing and collections, financial work queues, as well as reconciling delayed billing charges in a fast-paced outpatient physical therapy office. Provides assistance related to clinical billing issues as needed, utilizing Epic EMR billing and scheduling system. Proficient in Excel, Word, and FIS.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verifies accuracy and completeness of daily billing charges, monitors and finalizes outstanding issues held up in financial work queues while working to obtain maximum reimbursement. Performs and assists with back-end duties and charge review to include input, tracking, and verification of accurate and completed physical therapy billing charge transactions.
Responsible for follow-up and reconciliation of financial billing and claim work queues to ensure proper elimination of outstanding edits.
Provides assistance with maintaining and resolving accounts receivable issues related to Epic EMR system communications from Physician Billing Service. Responds to questions and requests from insurance companies and other entities as required.
Reviews and assists in reconciliation of system defined missing charge reports.
Supports the review and resolution of financial claim edits created by missing patient information and past due collection accounts. Answers billing and collection questions.
Provides back-up support for Accounts Receivable duties during peak times, vacations/illnesses. Other duties as assigned to include, but not limited to, filing, faxing, copying, and correspondence.
THis position is in a Patient Care Setting, typically sitting at desk or table with some bending, crouching, stooping.
There will be some Occasional lifting (25-50 lbs.)

This position is for the Program in Physical Therapy. This position is located at 1 Progress Point Parkway, O'Fallon, MO. Initial training may take place on the Medical School Campus.
Equivalent of High School diploma with 2 to 3 years of related experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting.
Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience working in accounts receivable and follow-up. Epic experience preferred. Experience in ICD-10 and CPT coding, Medicare and managed-care preferred.
Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
Possess communication skills and techniques to appropriately and discretely handle confidential information (patient medical records and billing information).
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Computer knowledge/skills to include word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), Internet, and e-mail.
Use of general office equipment required.
The hiring range for this position is $15.54 - $19.05 per hour.
