The scholar will use big data analytics to explore risk assessment and risk management in a multidisciplinary environment supporting the mission of the Risk Engineering and System Analytics (RESA) Center to become a global leader in risk engineering. JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Big Data for Risk Analytics: The scholar will be in charge of conducting research on how to extract information and where to extract information through big data analytics to develop innovative solutions for risk assessment, risk monitoring, and risk management. Key research areas include: text mining and analysis, real-time social media analysis, machine learning, data sourcing and homogenization, data ubiquity and accessibility, and data visualization. The scholar is expected to work in a multidisciplinary environment with experts in data science, wireless sensor networks, and resilience-based risk mitigation.
30% - Essential - Develop New Research Initiatives: The scholar will write grant proposals to expand the research portfolio of the Risk Engineering and System Analytics Center.
10% - Essential - Dissemination: The scholar will publish the completed research in reputed peer-reviewed risk engineering journals and will also present the research at conferences. May support education and training through selected topics. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Doctoral Degree in Engineering or related field. Work Exp 3 - 6 years of research experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:
