Pacific University, an esteemed national private university and the Northwest’s only comprehensive liberal arts, education, and health professions university, seeks an experienced, gifted, innovative leader to serve as Vice President for Finance and Administration. Pacific has thrived in recent years and has experienced significant growth, marked by the construction of new facilities, expansion of academic programs, increasing undergraduate and graduate enrollment and a strong financial position. The next Vice President will leverage Pacific’s mission, history and location, and positive energy and momentum on campus to help achieve Pacific’s mission of inspiring students to think, care, create and pursue justice in our world.
Pacific University has a rich place in both the history and the future of the Northwest. Almost 4,000 students are enrolled in the colleges of Arts & Sciences, Education, Optometry, Health Professions and Business. Approximately half of all students are undergraduates, while the other half are graduate and professional students. The University has four campuses in Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Eugene, and Woodburn. With a FY 19 operating budget of $124 million, the University brings together a traditional liberal arts undergraduate curriculum with graduate professional schools that play an important role in the advancement of metropolitan Portland’s health, education, and business communities. As part of its strategic vision for both the undergraduate and professional schools, Pacific University is creating a remarkable set of opportunities for the 21st century. The Vice President for Finance and Administration, as a key member of the President’s Cabinet, will play a critical role in ensuring the University is both financially and operationally poised to achieve its mission and goals, today and in the years ahead.
Reporting to the President, the Vice President acts as the Chief Financial Officer of the University and is a key financial advisor to the President and to the Board of Trustees. The Vice President’s direct reports include the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration/Controller; Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration; Director of Facilities and Safety Management; Chief Information Officer; Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs; Director of Financial Aid; Director of Budgeting Operations and Reporting; and an executive assistant. In order to guide Pacific into its next era of success, the next Vice President for Finance and Administration, in partnership with the President, Board of Trustees, and other senior leadership, will address a number of key priorities, as outlined below:
Develop a comprehensive and future-oriented financial strategy that supports the University’s strategic priorities;
Be a steward of the financial resources of the University in partnership with the President, leadership team, and the Board of Trustees;
Continue to foster a campus culture of community and collaboration;
Communicate clearly and frequently with both internal and external groups; and
Provide clear leadership, direction, and support to Finance and Administration staff.
