Coordinator of Student and Facilities Operations | Operations/Programming
The University Center offers a full-time position as the Coordinator of Student and Facilities Operations. Reporting to the Associate Director, the Coordinator is responsible for leading the University Center’s student development initiatives for all student staff positions, including training, selecting, scheduling, and managing the student staff. The Coordinator will manage the daily operations of the University Center’s facilities, including meeting event management, audio visual systems management and troubleshooting, information desk operations and sales, audio visual inventory, and client interaction. The Coordinator is considered essential personnel and will be expected to report to the buildings should Emory University be closed or delayed due to weather.
General Job Responsibilities:
Facility and Events Management
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the union facilities.
Monitor common areas, restrooms, and all egress points
Support Meeting Services in providing an excellence in customer service
Check all meeting rooms for compliance, including room usage, cleanliness, set-ups, etc.
Record details and notes on all events on the operations report to assure usage aligns with request
Communicate directly with the Custodial Operations team for set-ups, reservation add-ons, and customer service
Serve as the primary administrative liaison with event users of the facilities, including academic units, administrative departments, and student organizations
Responsible for upholding and implementing of facility community standards and for interpreting community standards for users of the facilities
Serve as building manager during non-student scheduled hours
Manage and Maintain the Information Desk, including ticket and a/v inventory
Obtain and provide campus information that is pertinent to running the Information Desk.
Seek out additional opportunities for revenue development, both in ticket variety and marketing to the Emory Enterprise
Coordinate the audio-visual equipment, set up, staff, and maintenance for all union facilities
Student Development Initiatives
Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and schedule 15+ student managers, 20+ Information Desk Associates, and 5+ audio-visual Techs to ensure that a high quality of customer services is maintained
Facilitate bi-weekly meetings and student staff trainings
Transition student staff to operate the facility during all business hours
Counsel student staff relative to job performance and the Emory Experience
Assess the effectiveness of student staff performance and training programs
Review and revise the student operations manual and training checklists to ensure compliance with University Center expectations, community standards, and university policies.
Serve as an integral part of the University Center team in providing support for all staff activities and University Center Board events.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration (or equivalent) and previous experience working in a student union, operations, or hospitality industry. Successful candidate should also demonstrate strong oral and written communication, supervisory experience, counseling skills, technical knowledge of event audio-visual equipment, experience using Microsoft Office suite software and the Internet, and marketing.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: 1. Proven management and training experience with student staff; including hiring, supervising, and motivating students. 2. Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with experience in facilitating workshops, teaching and training.
Be able to demonstrate creativity and flexibility in working on various projects with a variety of constituent groups. 4. Ability to develop, implement, and enforce procedures required for efficient service operations. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of program development and event execution, advising, and group dynamics. 6. High level of organization and attention to detail.
Knowledge of building management techniques extremely helpful. 8. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with student and professional staff, Division colleagues, and the University community.
Proven ability to be punctual and present for early morning days.
