Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education Preference may be given to individuals with a Masters’ degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education Five years of accounting experience Current CPA License, CPFO or ability to obtain Post offer, pre-employment background screening required An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Commitment to the community college mission High level of personal integrity Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines related to assigned work Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting statements, general ledger and related accounting practices Knowledge in and ability to use financial analysis and accounting reconciliation methods and techniques Knowledge of current computer technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of integrated enterprise software, preferably Ellucian Banner Finance Knowledge of inventory control and asset management methods Skill utilizing personal computer software programs affecting assigned work Skill utilizing computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications Skill analyzing accounting problems and taking corrective action Skill in effective supervisory principles and practices Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner Ability to give effective public presentations Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information Ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and takes appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment |
