The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) seeks a motivated leader to serve as the Director of Business Services. This position is located on the Juneau campus with regional responsibilities including the Ketchikan and Sitka campuses. The Business Services Director is a member of the administrative leadership team, reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Administration.
The Business Office provides the University an array of services from student billing and account services to procurement and vendor management and payment. The Business Office is also responsible for various accounting and reporting functions including expense and revenue coding and classification, G/L account reconciliation, and periodic account and financial analysis. The Business Office is responsible for ensuring fiscal processes and procedures are conducted in compliance with Board of Regent's Policy, Alaska State Statute and Federal Regulations.
UAS operates as part of the larger University of Alaska (UA) system. This position will collaborate closely with peer positions at the other UA universities and with the UA system office. Delegated responsibility for financial controls, internal control, business continuity, strong customer service and effective stewardship of university resources.
Required Education and Training:
Master's degree in accounting, business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A Certified Public Accountant certificate is preferred.
Leadership role in accounting area, several years of progressively more complex financial experience in a public organization with accountability for review and approval of others work, development of processes to ensure compliance with accounting standards and institutional rules and regulations.
A minimum of five years experience with increasing responsibility for a business enterprise.
Experience in Higher Education administration preferred.
Experience in a large, multi-division/location organization is preferred.
Governmental Fund Accounting; The use of ERP accounting systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership/supervision abilities are required.
