Walsh University is seeking applications for a Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs/CFO. Reporting to the President of the University, the Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs provides leadership, is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the University, advises the President on all matters of fiscal security and accountability, financial planning and the management of all funds and securities of the University, and acts as Treasurer to the Board of Directors.
Manages and provides leadership, strategic planning, and coordination for the Business and Finance Division, including the Director of Financial Aid, the Controller, the Director of Human Resources, Director of Purchasing, Director of Special Programs, and contracted services (Bookstore, Food Services).
Closely collaborates with other senior administrators to ensure consistent and effective daily management of the University.
Leads the management and operations of accounting preparation, cash management, investments, credit and bank relationship management, budget preparation, management and control, capital asset management, guidance on technology services and systems spending, student financial aid accounting, purchasing, vendor management and negotiations, and guidance on employee budgeting and accounting.
Ensures compliance with all professional accounting standards, rules, regulations and laws.
Takes a leadership role in modeling and structuring net tuition planning, financial aid monitoring and reporting.
Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning of new University programs, strategies, regulatory changes and actions.
Is responsible for the oversight of an annual external audit of the University’s Financial Statements, Financial Aid Programs and other federal grant programs.
Provides leadership to develop an optimal work force for the University, along with the Director of Human Resources, by overseeing efforts for staff allocation, recruitment, retention, total compensation, staff development, and evaluation to ensure efficient and effective departmental operations.
Serves as coordinator of the Finance & Audit and Investment Committees of the Board of Directors and other University committees as assigned by the President.
A Masters Degree in business, finance, or a related field or a Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university with a CPA or equivalent work experience. Seven or more years of related experience with significant business, fiscal, and operational experience, preferably in higher education or a complex organization of more than 250 employees. Progressively successful leadership and management across a wide range of people, functions and activities in medium to large sized organizations is necessary; in addition to financial and accounting expertise, knowledge of human resources and employee benefits is necessary.
