Reporting to the Director of the Information Security Office, the Information Security Risk Manager plans, executes, and manages multi-faceted projects related to risk management, mitigation, compliance, control assurance, and user awareness. Individuals in this role focus on developing security policies/procedures/standards, ensuring the effectiveness of solutions, and providing expertise and assistance to ensure the University’s infrastructure and information assets are adequately protected. They will work directly with internal departments and organizations to facilitate information security risk analysis and risk management processes to identify acceptable levels of residual risk.
Participate in the development and management of Rowan’s Information Security Risk Management Program.
Provide technical and analytical support and data analysis.
Represent the Information Security Office throughout all phases of various audits and assessments.
Communicate with multiple departments and levels of management in order to resolve technical and procedural information security risks.
Provide guidance to the organization on compliance requirements, including HIPAA, FERPA and PCI.
Assist in the development and implementation of information security policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other related field, or equivalent work experience. (Experience may substitute for education on a year-by-year basis.)
At least three (3) years combined IT and security work experience with a broad range of exposure to systems analysis, application development.
Working knowledge of security standards such as COBIT, ITIL, NIST and ISO27001.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Security Certification(s) (i.e., Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
