Provides administrative direction for Risk Management and Workers' Compensation offices on both campuses with an overall goal to protect the financial assets of The University of Toledo through risk identification programs, risk control measures and risk financing. The position serves as an institutional resource on risk issues; provides oversight for proper management of professional, property & casualty insurance programs which are used to finance risk protection; coordinates auto/property loss claims; and investigates professional and casualty incidents, attempting to mitigate or resolve potential claims early. Provides consultation on the development and/or review of institutional policies and procedures and participates in various committees in an effort to reduce the impact of risk on the organization.
Education/experience/licensing: *Master's degree or JD with 7 years experience in higher education and healthcare risk, of which at least 3 of those years being in a management position. *Knowledge of risk and insurance principles and of the Ohio Revised Code, as it applies to state institutions. *Broad knowledge of The University of Toledo and The University of Toledo Medical Center operations and a strong appreciation for the interaction of its constituencies.
Communication and other skills: *Demonstrated proficiency in communication, both written and verbal, and possess superior interpersonal skills. *Conflict resolution skills and a deep commitment to customer service. *Strong analytical, leadership and organizational skills with an effective ability to multi-task.
Additional Salary Information: Range starting at $90,320 annually; commensurate with experience
