Reporting to the Director of the Student Services Center, this position manages all student financial services including: billing, collections and maintenance of student accounts for tuition, housing, meals, insurance, and matriculation fees for SAIS Washington, the Hopkins-Nanjing Center and in support of the Bologna Center. The position also oversees the accuracy of charges and fellowship awards, and performs other accounting related functions and projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Maintains Internet Student Billing System including billing, collection and analyzing all student financial activities for SAIS, Hopkins Nanjing Center and the Bologna Center.
Ensures accuracy of tuition charges, loans, financial aid and fellowship awards by working with the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid Office, Admissions Office, and the Hopkins Nanjing Center. Lead monthly meeting with this team to ensure integration.
Develop student billing calendar 3 months prior to start of semester. Once finalized, adhere to milestones throughout the year.
Provide weekly status of current student delinquent accounts. Provide recommendations for collection.
Reconcile aging reports, receivables, meal cards, insurance, matriculation and other balance sheet accounts monthly; provide monthly status updates.
Establish and manage relationships with sponsored account points of contact.
Review financial aid disbursement report; process refund requests for students and ensure delivery with 10 days of receipt.
Process all tuition remission requests
Oversees checks and credit card payments process through Self Service and Virtual Point of Sale systems.
Oversees wire transfer and ACH payments process from the daily student report and from the receivables account.
Resolves and reprocesses reject transactions from USIS, Lock Box and Self Service Report.
Coordinate Student AETNA Health insurance, process waiver forms and insurance fees.
Keep abreast of laws and regulations that apply to student billing, financial aid, collections, etc. as they pertain to executing the duties of the position
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field required.
5 years of related experience required.
Knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Ability to handle confidential information
·Detail-oriented, well organized, and possess ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to exercise independent and sound judgment.
Ability to analyze and resolve moderately complex financial issues.
Audit and/or budget experience preferred
SAP financial systems experience helpful
Student billing and/or experience working in an academic setting preferred
