The Director, U Card Office is responsible for the administration, operation and maintenance of all aspects of the official University of Minnesota’s identification card program. The campus card identification program includes photo identification, an optional banking feature, building access, campus service access (library copiers and printers, print labs, equipment check-out and meal plans), the University’s meal plan program (FlexDine) and the campus declining balance program, Gopher GOLD™. The U Card Office provides operational oversight and direction to the Twin Cities campus card program, and provides leadership and oversight for the card programs on the University’s four system campuses. The U Card Office is known throughout campus for its exemplary customer service and is committed to maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive card system that supports the needs of the University system.
The U Card Office has an annual operating budget of approximately $800,000 and employs 10 FTE of full-time and student employees. The Director, U Card Office reports directly to the Executive Director, Contract Administration and the department is part of the University’s Auxiliary Services division.

Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree with at least eight years of experience and prior oversight of a small department or cross-disciplinary team • Five to eight years of proven management experience • Previous experience supervising full-time (non-student) employees • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently • Demonstrated track record in providing exceptional customer service • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative/consultative environment • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a diverse work environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Experience working in/managing campus card programs • Knowledge of and experience with business banking regulations • Knowledge of and experience working with contracts • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
