The individual in this position applies professional level accounting expertise in the administration of financial reporting activities, general accounting activities, Title IV Student Financial Aid activities within the Controller’s Office. This individual must be able to apply independent discretion and resolve discrepancies found in the financial analysis process. Also, the individual in this position will perform complex, specialized accounting duties that will affect campus wide activities. In addition, the individual in this position will be responsible for preparing various report and tax filings with external regulatory agencies, including tracking and follow-up duties.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)
Provides comprehensive reports, detailed analysis, and technical advice for administrative use. Prepares financial statements and interim management reports. Assist in various year-end processes, including independent preparation of GAAP package, financial statements, and compliance schedules. Participate in all facets of fiscal period and year end closing, identifying potential problems, developing solutions, and implementing corrective actions. Research current GASB standards. Stay current with current financial accounting trends in Higher Education.
